In our day-to-day lives, there are so many things we end up waiting for. We wait for the bus, in traffic, and in the grocery store line. We’ve all sat waiting at the doctor’s office, even the coffee shop.
Is it a Good Thing, or a God Thing?
Waiting is one of the most difficult disciplines in the Christian life. In a fast-paced world where everything is instant, God still works through process.
Many believers love promises, but struggle with the waiting season between prophecy and fulfillment.
Waiting is not weakness. Waiting is not delay. Waiting is a divine process.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO WAIT ON GOD?
To wait on God is not inactivity—it is:
- Trusting God when you don’t understand
- Staying faithful when nothing seems to be happening
- Remaining in position until God moves
Waiting is active faith, not passive existence.
TEXT EMPHASIS
- Isaiah 40:31 says: This shows that waiting produces strength—not weakness.
1. WAITING BUILDS SPIRITUAL STRENGTH
When you wait on God:
- Your faith grows
- Your character is refined
- Your dependence on God deepens
God uses waiting to prepare you for what you prayed for.
Example:
Joseph waited years before becoming a ruler. The waiting prepared him for leadership.
2. WAITING PREVENTS PREMATURE DESTINY
Many people have aborted destiny because they couldn’t wait.
- Abraham rushed and produced Ishmael
- Saul lost his kingdom because he could not wait for Samuel
When you don’t wait, you may get something—but lose God’s perfect plan.
3. WAITING PRODUCES DIVINE TIMING
Habakkuk 2:3 says:
Though it tarries, wait for it; it will surely come.
God’s delays are not denials—they are alignments.
God works with timing, not pressure.
4. WAITING DEVELOPS INTIMACY WITH GOD
Waiting seasons push you into:
- Prayer
- Worship
- Dependence
It is in waiting that you hear God clearly.
Many people want answers, but God wants relationship.
5. WAITING ALWAYS ENDS IN RENEWAL
Isaiah 40:31 promises:
- Renewed strength
- Supernatural lifting
- Sustained endurance
You don’t lose by waiting—you gain capacity.
DANGERS OF NOT WAITING
- Wrong decisions
- Fleshly alternatives
- Loss of divine direction
- Regret and delay
HOW TO WAIT CORRECTLY
1. Stay in the Word
God speaks in the waiting season.
2. Keep Praying
Prayer sustains you while waiting.
3. Maintain Faith
Refuse to doubt God’s promise.
4. Serve While Waiting
Don’t pause your life—stay active in purpose.
5. Trust God’s Timing
God is never late.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION
- You will not miss your timing
- You will not produce Ishmael instead of Isaac
- Your waiting season will turn into a testimony
CONCLUSION
Waiting is not punishment—it is preparation.
God is not ignoring you—He is working on you.
Your delay is not denial—your season is being arranged.
PRAYER POINTS
- Father, give me grace to wait on You
- Lord, strengthen me in my waiting season
- I reject impatience and wrong decisions
